What Is Enough? (5/10)

Lord give me enough for the day

Don’t give me anything more

I can only handle so much –

All else may be ignored.

Lord give me protection

Keep me anchored to truth

With that trusty steering wheel

Keep turning me back to you.

Lord give me little tastes

Of what You’re all about;

Feed my faith in increments,

Eradicate my doubts.

Lord give me favor

When it comes to those around

Let them be friends not foes

Who always help me out.

Lord give me what I need

To be faithful and true;

Give me ‘blessed assurance’

Of what I am to do.

Lord give me wisdom

To keep myself from falling;

Lord I need it now

To live out my calling.

Lord give me understanding

Give me reverence and fear;

Help me remember who You are:

The Most High, The Revered.

Lord give me light for the darkness

That certainly will come;

Show yourself the Brilliant Redeemer

Radiating love.

Lord give me grace for each moment

Grace to follow through

To do what You ask of me

Without the least excuse.

Lord give me salvation

In all of its finishing work

Let it continue on in me

Until my time is up.

The Healing Cup (5/9)

If sorrow is where You lead meThrough sorrow I will go;If this the path for healing,

Lord bring me low.

If sorrow comes and rests,

Even sits upon my brow

I will not malinger

But to You cry out.

If sorrow is my cup for a season

I’ll thank You with each sip;

I will not mess with reason

Only trust I’m in your grip.

If sorrow will make me better,

If it will increase my faith

I’ll not resent the cup given

But turn to you in praise.

If sorrow lets me feel YouWalking beside meThen come and fill me a cup

Of such blessed misery.

If sorrow heals the wounds

Even though causing strife

Can’t I accept it willingly

As You laid down your life?

I will turn their mourning into joy and will comfort them and give them joy for their sorrow.
Jeremiah 31:13

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4

Persistence In Convictions (5/8)

When Moses went to PharaohDemanding Israel’s release

Pharaoh didn’t surrender

But their work increased.

Sometimes things will get worse

Before getting better

Sometimes it seems as if we’re cursed

But it’s only temporal fetter.

Moses was persistent,

Going back again and again as commanded

It was not an easy feat

But that was how God planned it.

Sometimes we can’t see what God is doing

What’s happened doesn’t make sense

Sometimes we’re just to trust,

To keep going and not relent.

At last the Israelites were released,

Even handed gold and silver,

The very items used to make

The temple of their deliverer.

Sometimes we must press on,Continue praying for what we want

Sometimes we must not give up

But see our breakthrough dawn.

They followed God and built His temple

Though there were many ups and downs

Their story’s not done, still continues today

But what lessons can be found!

Sometimes we must simply follow Jesus

And be like little children

Sometimes we must not give way to fear

But keep after Him as pilgrims.

The Parable of the Persistent Widow  (Luke 18)

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”

Persevere With Me (5/7)

Persevere with me JesusI’m but a feeble thing

I want to be faithful

Yet I work for earthly gain.

Persevere with me Jesus

Finish what You started in me

Don’t give up on your child

Who just wants to be free.

Persevere with me Jesus

See me through this day

It’s only the beginning

But my heart is giving way.

Persevere with me Jesus

Push me to do more

To do the hard stuff with You

Teach me, I implore!

Persevere with me Jesus

I want more than this

This life of getting up and working –

I want joyfulness!

Persevere with me JesusYou who are always the same

Teach me to trust You

To follow You in all things.

Persevere with me Jesus

I won’t give up in prayer

You’re the one who found me restless

You are the One Who Cares.

Persevere with me Jesus

Through the thick and thin of life

I want more than the average person

I ask for joy – rife!

Persevere with me Jesus

You, the Faithful One,

Finish what You started –

Don’t stop until we’re done.

Persevere with me Jesus

Teach me faithfulness

To call on You each minute

Expecting heaven’s kiss.

I Will (5/3)

I will call upon You and You will deliverYou have promised me this;

I will not think on empty drivel

Your Word I won’t resist.

I will call upon You and You will hear me

From the depths of my soul will I cry

For You are much greater than my biggest problem

Your help I won’t deny.

I will call upon You as the day is beginning

I will not face life alone

For You are the Designer, You specialize in giving –

Oh take me to your throne!

I will call upon You at midday

When the bird song I finally hear

Reminding me that there is freedom worth living

If I would give ear.

I will call upon You at sunsetWhen my restlessness starts to wane;

I will not bother with other professes

You have my soul claimed.

I will call upon You as life winds down

Preparing for night to come

For You let me lie down, sleep in safety

Though my heart is numb.

I will call upon You in the midnight hour

When no one is around

For You do not cower but deliver,

Answering its deafening sound.

And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered. Joel 2:32

Just Ask Me (5/2)

What do you need today? All you have to do is ask

I am certainly capable

I am up to the task.

Why fret and fuss over futile things

Why flail about as if I’m not around

Put your hope in Me wholeheartedly

Tarry where I am found.

What are you expecting today?

What do you hope to find?

If you’ll search for Me instead

I’ll make life worth your time.

What is it that hinders you

From reaching out to Me?

What in you resists

My ever-probing plea?

Why don’t you know I forgive

When you at last repent,

When you turn around and say no to sin

With your heart’s consent?

What is it you need today?Patience and energy – vigor?

I will impart this to you

If you will come hither.

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16

Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8

Merciful Friday (5/4)

Merciful FridayComin’ round againJust like always,

A faithful friend.

Merciful Friday

Sweeps in like a breeze

Refreshing and lightening

The week’s dis-ease.

Merciful Friday

Remind once more

How Jesus saved me

When the cross He bore.

Merciful FridaySuch a day of reliefThe weight of sin removed –

I am the thief!

Merciful Friday

May I reflect on you

Sweet day of salvation

Faithful and true.

With – Or Without Me?

Let out a deep breath‘Cause May is here

Now wasn’t that fast?

Wasn’t it dear?

What did you do

With the time you had?

Did you focus on Me

Through the good and the bad?

Whatever your response

Just know today

Another chance welcomes you

Into the fray.

How will you make it?

Will you go without Me?

Why take this route –

It’s foolish you see.

‘Cause I hold the worldIn the palm of My hand

I am the Maker of Life,

Of mortal man.

Why dismiss Me so easily?

Why write Me off?

I proved my love once for all

With the cross.

Oh how I’d gather you

Under my wings

Keep you safe, protected

Through the toughest of things!

Oh I prove long-suffering

Gracious and compassionate

To those who heed my Word,

Who follow after it.

Would you have Me help you?

Would you hide beneath my wings?

Come, the end approaches

Let’s finish this thing!
